Driver – Callaway Big Bertha War Bird
Woods – Callaway Big Bertha War Bird 5 Wood and Tour Model II 3 Wood
Hybrid – Haven’t decided ( Please Help Out )
Irons – Callaway X-12 Big Bertha (3-PW)
Wedge – Cleveland 588 RTG Sand Wedge 56 degree
Putter – Callaway Big Bertha (Any suggestions for a putter too?)
All in a Callaway War Bird Stand Bag
Thanks in advance!
I should add that everything listed was bought for $45 at a thrift store. Luck find. It took me 5 hours to clean them and I already used a beginner set and broke 100 with them.

Listen anything that is made by Callaway is going to be good quality, whether or not YOU can play with this set is another question. The stuff you have brought is old but for $45 you can’t go wrong really can you!!
If I was you I would concentrate more on my swing and ball striking skills than how good my clubs are, it doesn’t matter how good the golf clubs if your swing is rubbish you’ll hit the ball rubbish.
For the record
Hybrid’s: – I would always go Cleveland (Halo / Hi-bore)
Putter: – Taylor Made Monza Rozza or Odyssey 2 Ball
Well done on breaking 100, keep it up.
On a scale from 1-10, probably a 6 1/2. Lets just say these are good clubs but not the best. But thats ok if its only your first set you don’t need the absolute best. Your wedge and irons are the strongest. Basically all Cleveland wedges I have tries worked for me, including the one you own. i recommend the Odyssey 2ball putter its amazing and feels nice too.
I have:
Driver- Taylormade r7
Woods- Cobra LD F speed 3&5 woods
Irons- Nike Slingshots
Wedges- also NIke slingshots
Putter- Odyssey 2ball putter
No hybrids for me, and my wedges are just part of the set nothign special but they work incredibly.
Nice deal though
If you are just beginning golf and learning the game it doesn’t matter, and for that reason I would give them an 10/10.
To have a quality brand name is good, but it doesn’t mean you will play well with them.
Work on your swing, and ball striking in general and as you learn to love the game go to a pro and get them to see if the clubs are suitable.
Hell, go to a pro now and ask if the clubs are suitable: you can’t go wrong because he will either say yes, no, or it doesn’t matter while you are learning
That is an awsome set of golf clubs. Callaway are my favourite brand of golf club and the big berthas are sweet especially for beginners. I’m getting some old callaway big bertha clubs in a month. With the hybrid I definitely recommend you get one as they are extremely handy and versatile. Buy a second hand hybrid which was high quality back in its day. I’d give your bag an 8 out of 10.
i actually play a warbird 5 wood so i give this a 10, putter any thing odyssey i play the white hot xg #9, the hybrid go with a callaway x they are superior to all other hybrids, wedges i play cg10’s any cleveland wedge is good now the driver this is obviesley out dated but still good because it is callaway i eventually would upgrade to something newer, and last the irons i play with people every week who still play these so i would stick with these for a while. all in all i would say that dude you made out like a bandit for that price a little more investing and you’ll have a very good set at hardley any cost.
You got a GREAT set for only $45. It is not about the bows and arrows, you need to now learn to make a good swing and you will enjoy those clubs a lot.
You got a good deal for this set. Obviously the clubs are not the best available out there today, however that is not very important. You have a set of decent clubs. Now you can work on your swing. Once you get a sound and solid swing developed and are consistently striking the ball purely…then you can worry about getting a nicer set of clubs.
